The vehicle needs to be "situatonally aware" (know where it is and what is around it) so it will need many cameras and/or range finders. It will need to be able to move so it will have to be able to move forward and reverse, and switch between the two. It will have to be able to steer, so it will need something like a continual rotation servo hooked up to your steering system.
