Son Ahlers: The Walking Dead, because of its popularity, has been published in a number of formats. Like most US comics it's new material comes out monthly in magazine format (what you probably think of when you think of "comic books"). These usually contain 23-25 pages of story in them. The Walking Dead also collects these in a number of formats. The principle one used for that series is a line of "trade paperbacks". Each volume of the trade paperback collects six issues of the monthly comic. The Walking Dead is also collected in a couple of other formats such as larger soft cover collections as well as hardcover collections. It can be a bit confusing. In terms of getting the books, most of the collections are numbered so you can keep them in order. I know for a fact that the thin trade paperbacks, which collect six issues, are numbered sequentially. Any collected edition of the comics should also tell you exactly what issues its collecting. This should be somew! here on the physical book itself or maybe in the first couple of pages. If you're looking at it online then the online write up at someplace like Amazon should also list which individual issues it contains. In terms of content, there isn't really going to be any difference between the story in the individual comics and the trade paperbacks. Sometimes some collections might include some bonus material, such as character sketches, pin up art, or text pieces from the creators discussing their process. But actual story in the collected editions is going to be the same as in the monthly comics.I hope that helped and wasn't too confusing in its own right....Show more
Willis Liburd: Ok, so graphic novels are literally just glorified, longer comic books. The Walking Dead is definitely comics, not long enough to be a graphic novel. All graphic novels are comics, but not all comics are graphic novels. Also, this part is dependent on whether or not you've seen the show. If s! o, read on.IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN SHOW, TURN BACK NOWDifference b! etween show and comic, in comic Shane dies from a gunshot to the neck in the first issue.
