Ivan Velazquez: Using the television to control the masses is an interesting concept but it has little to do with digital television. Using a digital signal encoded onto an analog one isn't going to change what you see, only change the way you get it. Digital encoding techniques are more efficient in the way the carrier is used to store information. That is the only thing going on here.
Blair Abdi: You forgot to mention the Fairness Doctrine. You can pretty much bet whatever the name of the bill is, it does the opposite of what it claims. Congress has zero authority to regulate the air waves or what type of technology is used for any purpose. They only have the authority enumerated in the Constitution. Elsie R! esner: They are not "forcing" anything on you. If you don't want to watch TV, then don't. Nobody has issued you a TV with a mandate you watch it for a specific number of hours.The change is for technological reasons. TV as we know it was invented in the 30's. TV channels us a LOT of bandwidth. The move to digital places the TV band in a better location in the radio spectrum and uses far less bandwidth per channel.If you want to watch TV after 2/2009, you will either need a newer TV with a digital tuner or a digital to analog converter box....Show more
