Jude Kennelly: Canadian PR is the same thing as Green card in USA. Canada has a PR card (MAPLE LEAF CARD) not a green card. The PR card needs to be renewed every 5 years, and when you do become a citizen, you lose the PR card.
Lahoma Beadell: okay, first of all... green card is for the US. canada has its own permanent residency visa program. the card that is used to show this status is called the MAPLE LEAF CARD. so... US is green card, canada is maple leaf card.second, the canadian permanent residency is for people that the government of canada has allowed to live and work in the country... it is not to help foreigners get a job in the US.third, getting a job in the US does not require you to live in a certain country. it all depends on your qualifications and whether you are the right person for the job.fourth, why would you apply for permanent residency in canada when you don't have plans on living there? it totally defeats the purpose.and lastly, whether you li! ve in your own country or in canada... it doesn't matter. the applications or petitions for work visa all go to the same office in the US... and all are under the same set of requirements and laws in order to get. where you live has no matter over getting approved.so if you plan on getting a job in the US... get a working visa for the US. do not get a canadian permanent residency. those are two totally different things and neither affects the other. plus, getting a permanent residency status in canada takes years... and a lot of money....Show more
