Manual Burtis: You are screwed. there is no defense for the position that the US should guarantee universal health care. Can you switch sides?
Marhta Teahan: united states of america grew to alter right into a rustic in 1787. a hundred and twenty years later, we've been rising as a financial powerhouse. What made this achieveable? The unfastened industry. We weren't useful as a rustic because of the fact we've been the main secure, or perhaps the best. We have been useful because of the fact we've been a land of possibility. We enable people do what they needed, how they needed. the persons chosen. not the government. a hundred years later, issues have replaced. we're not as useful as a rustic as we've been till now. this is by using the fact this is the government who's making the probabilities of what's best for us. not us. considering that whilst is it Washington's determination this is the only which is best for us? who're they to let us know that we could pur! chase scientific wellbeing insurance?...Show more
Rena Pepe: Nobody has ever suggested universal HEALTH CARE...the issue is Universal HEALTH INSURANCE. The end of for profit HEALTH INSURANCE companies would save billions of dollars every year and insure that ALL Americans are covered. Why pay a middle man to handle HEALTH INSURANCE when it's much less expensive to have a single payer non profit entity do the same job? Private HEALTH INSURANCE companies operate on a 43% overhead. $.43 out of every premium dollar goes for overhead. MEDICARE costs only $.03 out of every premium dollar. The second advantage is that as a public entity the books are open to the public...knowing where the money is going is a plus. A third advantage....the HEALTH CARE industry would have only one set of papers to deal with and they would be assured of payment in full and on time for their services. Private insurance companies are infamous for their stalling and rejecting of claims.Ther! e is no 'negative debate' involved. Nobody is interested in p! utting doctors on a federal salary or having Uncle Sam own all the hospitals. The HEALTH CARE side of the equation is and will be 'private industry'. But private industry can't stay in business without payment. As fewer and fewer Americans can afford private HEALTH INSURANCE and as more and more employers drop this benefit of employment for their employees the cash flow problems of the HEALTH CARE industry becomes an ever growing problem. As the public health falls under the Constitution's 'general welfare' clause, and under Art. 1 Sec 8 congress is fully empowered to collect taxes and to use those taxes to make 'all laws necessary and proper'.....establishing Medicare for All easily fits into this Article and Section....Show more
Wilbert Shellgren: Since the Supreme court recently affirmed the constitutionality of our current health care law (ACA), you probably should base your arguments on something other than it's constitutionality.Since this is a fictional deba! te, perhaps you can follow the GOP lead (Republicans) and use some of their somewhat shallow arguments. In any case, visit romney's website and he'll have material for you....Show more
