All they care about is that the walls and floor and ceiling are clean, and anything like the toilet or shower that they own is also clean. You could have a bookshelf full of disorganised chaos, and they can't really say anything, apart from their own personal opinion, as long as it is not affecting any of the actual property. Your dog is not technically a pet, so if they question you, there should be allowances for your situation. Perhaps you have some sort of medical certificate that you can show if they question you? Also, if they want to argue over the carpet stains, you have the right to call in a professional and let them evaluate the stains for the landlord (you could even provably get the landlord to pay).
