Blythe Noreiga: I always wash my reds/pinks/fuchsias in their own load. Whites and pastels together. Darks by themselves and towels by themselves so they don't get lint on anything.
Hilma Pestano: There are two major things to watch out for:bright colors will run into whitesdark colors will turn whites slightly grey.If your bright fuschia shirt didn't ruin your whites, then it can be washed with anything. Same with the orange.I would wash the orange and fuschia and pink with the darks and do the whites/ivory together. If I'm feeling picky because some of the clothing is new, I do a load of dark colors, a load of bright colors, and a load of whites. As you've already discovered, modern dyes are pretty good, so you don't have to worry about them running as much. After a few washes, they're all pretty safe, except that bright colors can still be a threat to whites....Show more
Scot Sepulbeda: Putting brights with your darks won't mess with either of them, unless! some of your darks are labeled as having a dye on/in them that bleed. Just don't mix them with lighter colors and whites.
Renita Sefton: Rule number 1 about laundry is--- always wash colored or dark things for the first time alone or put them in a basin with soap and water so you see if they run--you can see by the color of the water. If it runs the first time then test it the next time you wash it before you throw it in with the rest of the laundry. It's better to pay to run a small load than to have a whole load of laundry ruined. You can add a bit of vinegar to the rinse water to set the color. Most people have at least 3 loads--whites--which can include light colors Coloreds-- and darks. Once you are sure colors won't run then you have to think about things like lint transfer. It's terrible if you wash towels with something like corduroy slacks. You are forever trying to get the lint off the slacks.Don't feel bad about not knowing about laundry. It's somethin! g we have learned through trial and error. It's not exactly ta! ught in school...Show more
Merlin Fleischhacker: You can washed coloured garments in combination BUT no longer in case you have whatever new with the intention to run for the primary few washes. Especially pink! I most of the time placed denims in with black garments and use a tender cycle so that they may not fade too rapid.
