How do you become a video game tester?

Sharee Doak: Most video game companies hire tester that have a Bachelors degree in Video game design, or some sort of computer animation or design. Stay in school, and get your degree. I am currently pursuing my degree. I would love nothing more then to work in the Video game industry.Good Luck

LEGITIMATE video game testing (not the scams you see all over the internet) is a full or nearly-full time job, often with a lot of required overtime. 15 year olds aren't legally allowed to work that many hours per week in most states.Also, before you consider it, some advice. It's not as much fun as it sounds. You play one game, over and over, looking for and thoroughly documenting problems. It's not playing for enjoyment, and you don't get to switch games when you get sick of the one you're assigned to.A friend did it for a semester in college (I applied, too, but the slots were all full by the time they got to my appli! cation) testing for Saints Row. He hated it. They even gave him a copy of the game he tested when it was released, and he hasn't even opened it....Show more

Particia Thorton: If you're legal to work at 15 where you live, then yes. But I doubt most companies are keen on hiring kids. Testing games isn't as fun as it sounds. You have to submit detailed reports, dedicate long, boring hours going through many aspects of the game (difficulty, clipping, functionality, etc.) And you rarely get games you would have interest in. It's a real *job*.To become a tester, you can submit an resume to whichever company you're looking to join. Local is better since most companies don't hire people outside of their office area. The difficult part is locating the legit companies.
