Jonie Lauria: you need to send that cash to me, and i will take care of it for you...

Iris Shawcroft: $1000 is not enough for investing because the buying and selling fees will eat any gains you have.Save up here.www.ufbdirect.com. It is an internet savings account that pays 5.22% with no fees. FDIC insured.I am using it right now to save more money so that I can invest more without fees eating my gains up....Show more

Raye Tredennick: u.s. treasury i bonds, bought in various demoninations of 50,100,500 check out i bonds on the web for further information. gl

Vernon Martorana: Stay away from the stock market for a year or so sincre there will probably be a recession this year. I would say put it in a cd for a year and should get around 4% interest (40$)If you put it in a 5 year CD you should be able to get 4.5% or 45$ a year for 5 years.

Ronnie Sardi: It depends on what you need the money for and when. If you must have at least the $1000 back 5! to 10 years and can't afford to lose any of it, then a CD is the way to go. Go to www.bankrate.com for the highest yielding FDIC insured CD's in theUSA.If you are starting a retirement/ house buying fund, and don't need the money for 10 years or more, an equity mutual fund (in the past) has been the way to get the highest gains (remember past results are no guarantee of future results). Most mutual funds require $2500 or more to start but the T. Rowe Price family of mutual funds will let you begin investing with only $50 if you can add $50+ each and every month until you reach their normal minimum of $2500. Vanguard (another very popular low cost no load mutual fund family) has one fund their Vanguard Star fund, with a minimum of $1,000. In my opinion, it is very diversified and therefore a very good "beginner" fund....Show more

Lady Laflin: Depends on how risk averse you are.Invested $1K in a Fidelity mutual fund (Magellan) ~20 years ago, now it's worth about $1! 5K.Invested about $1K in Conoco Petroleum after Katrina, now i! t's now worth around $1400. That is about the best I've done over a short time period on a stock. I've also lost on stocks, so it's a question of your tolerance for risk....Show more

Dorinda Metzer: Buy a share of Berkshire B and keep it.

Sammy Tabatt: You may not believe this, but use the grand to invest in yourself. Use it for a class, a course, special training - even if the training is to improve your financial savvy. By learning a special skill and then being able to go out and apply the skill better than the next person, you can turn the grand into an income that would not ordinarily be able to glean, hence it's an investment with returns that will take you over the grand-mark, and over a longer period of time than if you invested in a stock or interest bearing account....Show more
