Renting a home, what am I expected to need?

Clifford Riggleman: We're getting ready to move into a privately owned condo after several years of renting from managed apartment communities and one of my biggest concerns is how easily we'll be able to get our new landlord to come and make repairs if something breaks in the apartment. With an apartment complex there likely will be a maintenance staff who will respond quickly if something goes wrong with your new place. Over the years, we've had appliances break down, flooding, etc. and it's been really nice to just call the office and have them send someone to fix everything.Plus all of the apartment complexes we've lived in have had some really nice amenities such as pools and hot tubs, workout rooms, package delivery, etc. We've also had some really cool neighbors we've become friends with.If you are a first time renter, I would recommend choosing an apartment complex over a private landlord. You are giving up some privacy but there are definite perks to renting ! from a professional company....Show more

Rivka Killmer: pretty much the same as renting an apartment except you will likely need a washer and dryer, lawn care equipment, and the bills will be higher.
