For those who like poetry....?

Gregg Hagge: does anyone really know why they like anything??just like your favorite color. why is it your favorite color?ha, but it probably is because it has a big effect with just few words sometimes. its quite pretty too. i love it. sometimes its kind of hard to understand though....Show more

Lionel Tanen: why do you like reading books? listening to music? painting? poetry?

Barton Sease: I love the way that well-written poetry can pull me into a different world. Where each word and/or phrase paints another picture upon the living canvas-world where the essence of the poem pulls me. It, for a period of time, allows me to experience something different, sometimes wonderful.

Derrick Cacioppo: As a poet myself, I found it's an open window for all to see what is going on in my mind, and that's terrifying b/c what if they think I;m just plain nuts? Then again, who cares? Sylvia Plath, Robert Frost, to name a couple, had bipolar disorder and SP took her o! wn life, read her last book Ariel. She pushed out 3-4 poems a day, it's a look into her suicidal mind and yet it has some of her ery best poetry in it.

Wally Gower: I am not asking WHY? I am asking "WHAT do you like about poetry?"

Toya Braskett: I love reading poetry because, its a peak into a strangers soul. No matter what its about, somehow, thier essence trickles in, and its beautiful. And of course, cleverness in language is fantastic to discover. I love writing poetry for the same reasons.

Brice Greczkowski: I love the symbolism enclosed in GOOD poetry and the way it flows. I love how an author can pass along a feeling or emotion through poetry that really can't be conveyed in conventional terminology.

Salvador Prchlik: I like novelty and a quick fix....poetry doesn't take ages to read, and it usually contains something new, interesting, and imaginative. If I read a poem which fulfills my needs I get a real buzz from it. We spend most of o! ur time listening to platitudes and cliches and a good poem us! es language in a unique way which is interesting, and even exciting to my jaded ears.

Alexis Reyer: My favorite part of well writtne poetry is that you can get a better understanding of another person views on life as well as share an emotion or feeling about something or someone. Gaining a higher understanding of humanity is my favorite art of poetry.
